Former High Court Judge jailed 

Two members of the GNP have been jailed and fined for illegal election fundraising. Rep. Kim Young-iel, a member of the National Assembly, and Seo Jeong-woo, an aide to former GNP presidential candidate Lee Hoi-chang were both jailed for 3-4 years and fined a combined 2.65 billion Won (US$2.2 million).

This is not the most amazing thing in the story though- members of parliament and staff taking bribes or illegal donations is commonplace in Korea. What is a new twist is that Seo is a former High Court judge!

I think this conviction should now call into question all of the rulings he made while a Justice...

Roh is safe 

The Constitutional Court has ruled in the majority to overturn the parliamentary impeachment of President Roh. This means that he is now able to retake to powers of office, and finish his term in 2008. No word yet on whether he will ever threaten to resign office again
